What is EIBI?

Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention (EIBI) is a specialized, interdisciplinary, intensive treatment and intervention contracted program, based on best practices (their words, not mine), for children under the age of six diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

As of 31 January 2010, this program will no longer exist. The government in their infinite wisdom has decided to leave these families high and dry.

What the #$*!@ do we do now?

It remains to be seen if the present service providers for the EIBI program will be offering their services to the families with a different financial arrangement. Many families will now be venturing into home based teams for the first time.

Those of you who have never run home based teams before need to know one simple fact. Running your own team yields better results for much less money. The EIBI program is costing the government $70,000 per child and not many families can afford this.

A home based team is an enormous amount of work, but the end result is worth it.

This website as well as the newly formed ABA Support Network are here to help you get set up.
